Head on over to the Oppenheimer Pavilion at Gibney’s Hawksnest Bay Beach on Sunday for the St. John Cancer Fund’s Recovery Beach Party clambake and barbecue.
The fundraiser comes on the heels of Saturday’s 8 Tuff Miles event so it will give people a chance to gather after the race. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. music will play and food and drinks will be on sale.
“It’s what everybody likes to do best – have a beach party,” organizer Mary Bartolucci said.
The clambake as well as roti will be on sale for $10. Hamburgers are $6 and hotdogs are $5.
Bartolucci said, “It’s all in support of the cancer fund,” which helps pay myriad expenses for St. John cancer patients.
Bartolucci said all food and drinks are donated through its primary sponsor, Bellows International, and that the Mongoose Junction Merchants Association is also assisting with the event.
Because there is no parking at the beach, organizers are running a shuttle from Mongoose Junction shopping center for $5.
