An intriguing double program comes to Prior Jollek Hall. The Forum presents award-winning author Dava Sobel, who will talk about her book, “A More Perfect Heaven.” It tells the story of Nicolaus Copernicus , the Polish astronomer, and his world-changing book, “On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres.” This book presented the provocative and controversial observation that the earth moved in relation to the sun.
The events which persuade Copernicus to share his ideas with the world are presented in a play, “And the Sun Stood Still.” The play is the centerpiece of Dava Sobel’s book and is going to be performed by two actors from Pistarckle Theater under the direction of Frank Bartolucci. “We are excited about this concept,” said Joan Amerling, executive director of The Forum. “It adds an extra dimension to the evening. We get to hear and meet Dava Sobel, and we see her work brought to life.”
The program will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Prior-Jollek Hall. Tickets cost $15, $10 for teachers and $5 for students on sale at the Reichhold Center for the Arts (693-1559), Dockside Bookshop, Interiors and Home Again.
