The Virgin Islands Junior Little League team lost to Aruba, 10-4, Saturday in the championship game of the 2012 Latin American Regional Junior Little League tournament in San Jose, Costa Rica.
With the win, Aruba moves on to the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Mich., Aug. 12 through 18.
V.I. pitcher Kaleeq Brannigan gave up six runs in three plus innings before leaving the game with an arm injury. Only two of those runs was earned. Dumio Pole relieved Branningan, but had control problems, walking four batters and surrendering three runs, two earned, in one and two-thirds innings.
Aruba´s pitcher, Gillan Weinel, kept the Virgin islands batters of balance. Weinel gave up four runs on seven hits in pitching six innings. Lrearckick Oduber threw a one-two-three seventh inning to end the game.
Little League baseball has five divisions, running from Minor, for nine to 10 year olds, through Big, for 17 year olds. Junior is the middle division, for 13 and 14 year olds.
