‘Summer Reef Ranger' Program Kicks Off Saturday

The National Park Service will host a free family event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Fort Christiansvaern Park.

The Summer Reef Ranger and Junior Ranger Program Kickoff will provide free food, music, boat rides for kids and other activities. Visitors can register for library cards or check out books with a library card from the Bookmobile.

Kids 10 to 14 can sign up for the National Park Service’s free Buck Island Saturday Snorkel Clinics, which will run through the rest of the summer. Children will learn how to become Reef Rangers and Junior Rangers where kids can volunteer at Buck Island, Salt River and Fort Christiansvaern.

The Department of Health and other local and federal agencies will be available to provide information and answer questions about their programs.
