St. Croix Gets New Brush-Fire Truck

An Interface Wildfire Apparatus currently in use in a Canadian jurisdiction. The V.I. Fire Service has a new tool in its St. Croix arsenal in the form of a 750-gallon capacity fire truck called an Interface Wildfire Apparatus, which will soon be stationed at the Cotton Valley Fire Station, according to Fire Service Assistant Director Daryl George in a statement sent Thursday.

A $230,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture grant made the purchase possible, George said. The fire truck was built to specification to fight wild land fires, along with other emergency operations, according to the Fire Service.

“As the Fire Service continues to both meet its mandate and evolve into a well-rounded and efficient hazard response agency, we have aggressively been making efforts to identify and use available federal funds to upgrade our equipment and services to the territory,” George said.
