With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Maria Maldrina Spooner Duncan who came to a peaceful end at the glorious age of 81. A native-born Virgin Islander, Maria was the strength and driving force for her family and a visible strength in the community, involved with such organizations as the Cub Scouts of the V.I., Aglow International, and the Lutheran Church of the Reformation Choir. Maria retired from the Department of Education after numerous years of dedicated service.
She will be greatly missed by her sister, Althea Taylor; sons: Cecil Henley, Carlton D. Duncan Jr. and Dale Duncan; daughters: Ruslin Rabsatt, Jacquelin Hunt-Lewis, Kayavril Duncan-Smalls and Leticia Duncan; grandchildren: Ahmid Lewis, Ahmoi Lewis, Jumore Lewis, Dequan Duncan, Natalia Duncan, Tercell Henley and Derrick Henley; great-grandchildren: Ro’neesha, Ahneeca, Kanique and Ronald Lewis III; daughter-in-law: Carolyn Barry-Duncan; sons-in-law: Ronald Lewis Sr. and Kevin Smalls Sr.; nephews: Lloyd Stephens, Roy Stephens, Louis Taylor Jr., Warren Taylor, Maxwell Georges, Warren Powell, Franklin Powell, Jimmy Powell and Richard Spooner; nieces: Ishmay Powell, Deborah Spooner, Leona Stehens, Michelle Taylor, Geraldine Georges, Mary Powell, Sharon Taylor and Jewel Powell; brothers-in-law: Neville Maynard, Kent Gunter and Robert Maynard; sister-in-law: Janet Maynard; stepdaughter, Anola Duncan-Turnbull; step granddaughter, Jenelle Burley; special friend, Prudence Wesselhoft and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

On Friday, June 15, there will be a viewing at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation beginning at 9 a.m.; which will be followed by the service at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery.
