St. Croix Track Club Wins 3rd Place in Tampa

St. Croix Track Club at Bay Taff Track and Field meet
On May 28, the St. Croix Track Club attended the 21st Bay Taff Classic Track and Field meet, which was held at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The St. Croix Track Club took a total of 19 athletes from age 5 through 17, who competed over two days. There were over 1500 athletes competing in the meet. The St. Croix Track Club won 1st place last year when there were 20 less teams in the category. This year they were awarded 3rd place of the 37 teams in their category. The athletes from the St. Croix Track Club competed in the following events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, discus throw, javelin, high jump, long jump, shot put, triple jump, spring medley and turbo javelin.
Athletes placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd received medals: Mikaela Smith—three gold medals in the 1500m, 3000m and sprint medley; Malique Smith— two gold in the 1500m and high jump and two bronze in the triple jump and 800m; Britney Sage—bronze in the 100m; Xiaxiang Washington—two silvers in shot put and discus throw; Ashley Paddie—bronze in 800m; Michelle Smith—silver in 200m; Krystahl Gordon—gold in triple jump and silver in long jump; Annika Benders, Keshaundia Quinn, Annika Benders —gold in the sprint medley.
