Delphine Smith, also known as “Dolcena,” died on May 17 at her residence. She was 93 years old.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Smith Sr.; sons: James F. Smith (Frankie), Jean Smith, John Venzen and John F. Smith (deceased); brother, John Alwyn Richards; sisters: Andromeda Husband, Emelda Nicholson; grandchildren: Lisa McDonald, Valerie Modeste, Jermaine Smith, Jared Smith, Jelanie Smith, Raheem Smith, Delease Smith, Deshaun Smith, Shaun Smith, Randy Smith, Shauna Smith, Shayne Smith, Latrece Venzen, Latoya Venzen, Chenelle Venzen, Latia Venzen and Lamae Venzen; great grandchildren too numerous to mention; special nieces, Delphine Reynolds and Vivian Lewis; special nephews: Irvin Brown, Horace Lewis, Fern Richards Laborde and Heraldo Richards; daughters-in-law: Eclyn Smith, Shauna Venzen and Cecilia Smith (deceased); special friends: Maude Jacobs, Dixie Gillies, Lillian Chesterfield, Miss Simmonds and Dr. Alfredo Heath; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at noon followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery.
