Workshop Planned on Implementation of Education System Improvement

Yvette McMahon-Arnold, state director for Instructional Development in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, will lead a discussion on the implementation of the Education System Improvement Process (eSIP) in the school districts during School Year 2011-2012, according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Education. The eSIP Professional Learning Community will gather at Divi Carina Bay Resort on St. Croix on Tuesday, May 8, and at Sugar Bay in the St. Thomas-St. John School District on Friday, May 11.
Task force members in both school districts will analyze the summative results of eSIP implementation to date. “We expect to learn effective strategies from school teams to achieve state priorities, make adjustments for the second year of the planning cycle, and update school plans accordingly,” said McMahon-Arnold about the major course of the sessions.
Presenters at the Learning Community will include officials from the superintendent offices: State Director of Assessment Alexandria Baltimore-Hookfin, who will be reporting on current walk through instruments, along with McMahon-Arnold, and other educational professionals in the districts. Dr. Alice Lindsay, director for Florida and the Islands Regional Comprehensive Center at ETS will give closing remarks.
For more information on eSIP Professional Learning Community, contact McMahon-Arnold at 773-1095, ext. 7086.
