The public is invited to attend a series of meetings scheduled over the next few weeks to discuss the upcoming implementation of a new school/estate redistricting plan for St. Croix District, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Education. Along with attending Parent Teacher Association meetings in each school, St. Croix Superintendent Gary Molloy and members of his redistricting team will be meeting with various stakeholders and community members at:
* Juanita Gardine Elementary School Auditorium on Thursday, May 10 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
* Alexander Henderson Elementary School Auditorium on Thursday, May 17 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
* St. Croix Educational Complex Auditorium on Thursday, May 31 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The redistricting plan was developed in order to help the St. Croix District better manage the influx of new public school students anticipated for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year.
The entire redistricting process is expected to be completed within two years to allow for minimal interruptions for parents, their children and the schools. The ultimate goal, Molloy said, is to have all students attending the school closest to where they live.
