Second Annual Rotary Sunrise Kids Triathlon Set for May 12

The Second Annual Rotary Sunrise Kid’s Triathlon will take place, Saturday, May 12 at Magens Bay. The three age groups for competition are 5-8, 9-11 and 12-15. Participants will compete in the three triathlon sports: swimming, biking and running. A registered competitor may be a member of a relay team or compete as an individual. Prizes will be awarded in each age division as well as each gender.
Registration forms are available at public and private schools. Last year more than 100 students from St. Thomas and St. John participated. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. on the day of the triathlon. Start time is 8 a.m. The registration form and parent waiver must be signed for the student athlete to participate. A five dollar ($5) registration also must be paid. Students who arrive after the registration time will be unable to participate.
All registered athletes should bring their own bikes along with the required helmet. Footwear should be sneakers or athletic shoes, no flip-flops will be allowed. T-shirts will be given to all registered participants. Rotary Club of St. Thomas Sunrise members will be assisted by seasoned adult triathletes from St. Thomas, St. John and St Croix. Current sponsors include Scotia Bank, which is the signature sponsor, and Glacial Energy.
