Emelda Marie Sarauw, age 84, of Walterboro, S.C., died on April 12.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Sarauw Sr.; son, Rene Sarauw; step-son, Delroid Sarauw; sister, Leila Jacobs; and niece, Meline Thomas.
She is survived by her sons: Leon Bastian, Lionel, Lemuel Jr. and Rodney Sarauw; daughter, Sandra Bastian-Carty; stepsons:Levron Sr. and Lawrence Sarauw; stepdaughters:Bernice Turnbull and Nieresta Corneiro; grandchildren,Monique Sinclair-Mason, Derek Sinclair, Joshua Sarauw, Samuel Sarauw, Veronica Bastian and Chenay Sarauw; great-grandchildren,Tiara, Toria and Tajah Mason; brothers:Winston and Michael Cartier, and George Coulter; sisters:Claire Holmes, Joy Harvey-Thomas and Angela Lake; brother-in-law,Albert Thomas; sisters-in-law:Iris Sarauw and Frances “Hazel” Coulter; adopted daughter,Traci Addison; aunt,Maria Pinder; special nieces and nephews, Anthony Minto Sr., Nichole Greenaway-Hinds, Curleen, Crystal and Charles Coulter, Michael and Alec Thomas; as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to mention, including the Cartier, Chapman, Dennery, Henry, James, Milligan, Petersen, Pinder, Phaire, and Walcott families.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at Frederiksted Assembly of God. Interment will be at Frederiksted Cemetery.
