DOL Provides Update on Issuance of Unemployment Insurance Checks

Over 500 Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), regular Unemployment Insurance and Interstate checks have been mailed out territory-wide to claimants for the weeks ending March 24 and March 31., according to a press release issued Tuesday by the V.I. Department of Labor. The department anticipates that claimants should be in receipt of checks as of Wednesday, April 11.
Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. said, “Off-island consultants and the department’s internal IT staff worked over the long holiday weekend to restore the system and associated hardware issues that erupted last week, causing a delay in the issuance of UI checks. Approximately 90 percent of the repairs have now been completed, and we continue working diligently to restore the full functioning of the system as expeditiously as possible. We are confident that all repairs should be completed by the end of the week.”
The department will continue providing updates to the public throughout the process. The staff and management of the Department of Labor apologize for the inconvenience and thank the public for their patience and understanding.
