Ulla F. Muller was the guest of honor Wednesday as students at her namesake elementary school paid tribute, showering her with poems, songs and cultural presentations during a special “Ms. Muller Day” program put together for V.I. History Month.
Muller began as an English and history teacher at the former Abraham Lincoln Elementary School (now J. Antonio Jarvis), but is best known as principal of Muller Elementary (originally known as the Nisky Elementary School.)
Sixth-grader Hadiya Hanley recounted the details of Muller’s personal, career and educational accomplishments. “She was a no-nonsense principal who loved all the teachers and students,” Hanley said.
Students also pantomimed “Hero” by Mariah Carey, performed a rousing quadrille, read poetry and held a Maypole demonstration.
Afterward Muller said her favorite parts were “the enthusiasm” and “wonderful show of appreciation.”
“I feel the enthusiasm I had for the school and the love I had for it seems to have spread,” Muller said.
