The Department of Labor is accepting applications for the Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) summer internship program. Now in its 22nd year, the LIFT program continues to provide college juniors, seniors and graduate students with meaningful work/internship experience in their chosen career field. Interns may also gain college credits. Eligibility criteria are as follows: Interns must presently be a college junior, senior or a graduate student; must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale; and must be between the ages of 18 – 25, inclusive. Application deadline is April 13, according to a press release issued on Monday by the V.I. Department of Labor.
“The LIFT program is the territory’s most definitive investment in the retention of our young talent. Over the last 20 plus years it has been instrumental in letting employers and students know that profound talent and career opportunities exist for our best and brightest,” said Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr.
Interested juniors, seniors or graduate students must complete the LIFT application online on the department’s Web site at www.vidol.gov under the forms tab. Completed applications, transcripts and a required essay should be submitted to lift2012@vidol.gov by April 13.
