Update: Cruise Ship Victim Identified

A 68-year old male cruise ship passenger who passed away March 12 after suffering serious medical distress while snorkeling off of Cane Bay has been identified as Robert Suleski of Rochester, N.H.

Police received the call at 1:02 p.m. Monday, reporting a medical emergency at Cane Bay, according to V.I. Police Department Public Information Officer Melody Rames.

Rames confirmed the identity Monday afternoon, but offered few additional details. "It was not a criminal matter," Rames said.

Asked if Suleski drowned or passed away from some medical condition exacerbated by exercise, Rames referred medical questions to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. Officials at the hospital said they do not give out medical information without prior approval from the patient or surviving family.
