St. Croix-born rapper and actor Elijah Vegas, 13, will be featured Sunday on the Lifetime television series "Army Wives," according to a news release.
Vegas plays the role of Jamal Parks; the troubled son of a soldier who acts out when his father is deployed to Afghanistan. Lifetime is broadcast on Channel 30 on Innovative Cable St. Croix and Channel 42 on Innovative Cable St. Thomas.
According to his website, www.elijahvegas.com, Vegas was born in the territory and lived on St. Croix until his parents, Vernon and Jamalia Vegas, moved him to Atlanta in 2001, when he was 3-years-old.
In 2011, he released a tape titled "Actor Turnt Rapper" that included Virgin Island hits "Parents Don’t Understand" and "My Girl." He was featured in the single "Believe" alongside Virgin Islands musicians Verse Simmonds, Pressure Buss Pipe, Mada Nile, and others.
