McDonald’s Receives Award from International Council of Shopping Centers

Arcos Dorados, the world’s largest franchisee of McDonald’s in the world and operator of the brand in Latin America, received the most important prize of the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers). The awards ceremony was during the annual convention of the Latin American division, in Lima, Peru, between March 12 and 14. The McDonald’s restaurant of Samara Shopping, in Mexico City, won the award in the category of retail, which recognizes professional design of stores and its contribution to the general success of this industry.
The recognition reflects the large investments that Arcos Dorados has been doing in the architecture of its restaurants and its strong presence in the segment of all Latin America. Another two Arcos restaurants were also amongst the five finalists of the award: The Falls Shopping and Grand Bazaar Shopping, both in Trinidad and Tobago.
“We are very happy for receiving this important award, that represents an acknowledgment to the constant work of design and implementation at our restaurants, where we daily receive the visit of more than 4 million people”, said Woods Staton, CEO of Arcos Dorados.
According to the ICSC, the concept of the McDonald’s in the Samara Shopping, in Mexico, stresses the strategy of design with audacious style and modernity that McDonald’s has implemented in all of Latin America. The restaurant used abstract graphics in its walls, modern architectonic elements and diverse types of furniture to simulate interaction with consumers. The exterior terrace, a unique element, distinguishes this McDonald’s and at the same time preserves its cohesion with the brand.
