Christensen Announces Deadlines for CBCF Scholarships

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Spouses Education, Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts, Spouses Visual Arts, Louis Stokes Health Scholars Program and Environmental Studies scholarship applications are now available to Virgin Islands students, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Office of the Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
· Preparing to pursue an undergraduate degree full-time
· Be a current full-time student in good academic standing at an accredited college or university.
· Have a minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, exhibit leadership ability, and participate in community service activities.
Congresswoman Christensen is informing applicants that the CBCF scholarship applications are available in online application form. To apply, interested students should submit their application materials online to http://www.cbcfinc.org/scholarships. Completed applications and all supplemental materials must be submitted online by the close of business on the following dates:
The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship: May 31
The CBCF General Mills Health Scholarship: May 31
*The application for the CBCF General Mills Health scholarship will be posted online shortly.
Congresswoman Christensen also encourages V.I. students to apply for the following scholarships:
The CBC Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship: May 3
The CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship: May 3
The CBCF Louis Stokes Health Scholars Program: March 29
The CBCF Environmental Studies Scholarship: March 29
Students who have submitted their applications are encouraged to contact scholarship administrator Makeda Okolo at 226-7980 or Makeda.okolo@mail.house.gov for further information on the status of their application.
