Man Shot by 17-Year-Old Co-Worker

A 19-year-old man was allegedly shot in the leg Wednesday while arguing with a co-worker at a business in Christiansted, according to a press release issued by the V.I. Police Department.

Police said that the incident occurred around 10:40 p.m., and involved a 17-year-old minor suspect, who was taken into custody following the shooting.

The victim told officers that he and the suspect got into a fight at work. He said while they were struggling on the ground, he heard a pop and felt a burning sensation in his upper thigh, realizing that he had been shot. Witnesses separated the fight and held both men until police arrived minutes later.

The victim was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, and the minor was detained by Youth Investigation Bureau members.

The case continues to be investigated by detectives.
