With the official retirement of Executive Director Kenn Hobson on Wednesday, V.I. Port Authority board members announced that their attorney, Don C. Mills, will be running the agency until a new executive director is found.
Mills’ appointment as the Port Authority’s interim executive director became effective at 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release. Mills has served as the authority’s legal counsel since June 1989.
Hobson submitted his resignation a little over two months ago, and said during a board meeting held on Dec. 22, 2011 that he made the decision after experiencing some health issues.
After working at the V.I. Housing Authority and V.I. Water and Power Authority, Hobson moved over to the Port Authority in 1987, where he started off as a property management officer.
From there he was promoted to property manager and property director, then deputy executive director in 2007. Hobson became interim executive director after the retirement of Darlan Brin in early 2008 and was officially appointed to the position later that year.
Wednesday was officially Hobson’s last day on the job, the release said.
