Police are investigating two separate nonfatal shootings that occurred Sunday and Monday in the Bonne Esperance area. A 29-year-old man was shot in his leg Sunday, and another man, whose age is unknown, was shot Monday morning in his upper body.
According to police, the 29-year-old victim was shot in his right thigh Sunday after allegedly being attacked by man donning a face mask. The victim told police he was taking a drive and stopped his car near Bonne Esperance.
The victim said when he exited his car, an armed man wearing a black mask and black clothing came out of the bushes, approached him, and demanded money. The victim told police he grabbed the gun and struggled with the suspect, causing the gun to discharge, hitting him in his right thigh.
The second victim was shot in his upper body around 10 a.m. Monday, and when police arrived on the scene they found the victim with a handgun. According to police, when officers were dispatched to Estate Bonne Esperance, they observed a male victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Police said they also confiscated a handgun from the victim, which was allegedly tucked in his waist. The second victim was taken by ambulance to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into both shootings.
