“Home Composting 101” at IGBA Meeting

The Island Green Building Association (IGBA) will have a free, public seminar from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at The Marketplace on St. John, second floor.
Doug White will demonstrate that home composting is easy, rewarding and ideal for the island environment. Composting equipment and samples will be on hand, and various techniques will be discussed. Studies indicate 60 percent of household waste can be composted, which is critical to overburdened landfills and environmentally responsible living.
A brand new composter will be raffled off to those attending the meeting, and everyone will learn how to easily create nutrient-rich soil from kitchen and yard scraps. Those who already compost successfully are encouraged to share their knowledge and pick up new tips in the discussion following the presentation.
The public is welcome to this free seminar. Call 227-1110 for more information.
