Police Pick Up Two More for Drunk Driving

St. Thomas police continued their crackdown on drunk driving, making two more arrests over the weekend.

Rikki Weaver, 23, was arrested on Hull Bay road a few minutes before 11 p.m. Sunday after allegedly being involved in a car accident. Police said that she appeared to be intoxicated but refused to take a field sobriety or Breathalyzer test. Her bail was set at $500 at the time of her arrest.

Leann Chelsey Ellmer, 27, was arrested at approximately 2:15 p.m. Saturday after being stopped by police in the Tabor and Harmony area. Officers said Ellmer smelled of alcohol and had trouble standing straight. She allegedly was also found with two small plastic bags of marijuana, according to a Police Department news release.

Traffic Enforcement Bureau officers advise the public that officers will continue to crack down on drinking and driving. Individuals arrested for drunk driving will have their photos distributed to the media and posted on the VIPD website at www.vipd.gov.vi.
