Carol Jacobsen Benedict Dies at 77

Carol Jacobsen Benedict, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 13, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Carol was born to Joe and Agnes Jacobsen on May 31, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minn., the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis and attended nursing school at Swedish Hospital where she graduated as an RN in 1954. She moved to Frederiksted, St. Croix in 1957 where she lived and served at the Queen Louise Home.
She married Thomas Benedict on April 2, 1960. In 1967, Tom and Carol moved their family to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they raised their four children: Patricia (Mark) Schellhaas, T. Matthew (Marcy) Benedict, Ruth (Paul) Fox and Paul Benedict. She is survived by her husband, four children, and seven grandchildren, Trent and Hardy Schellhaas, Megan Fox-Serzel (Paul), Katie and Trey Fox, T. Gabriel and Watson Benedict, and many nieces and nephews.
Final services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, on the corner of the Hill and Hospital Street in Frederiksted, St. Croix.
