Surfs up for youths ages eight to 17 who want a chance to win a trip to the second annual Tortola Surf Classic to be held Feb. 18 and 19 on Tortola.
The non-profit Using Sport for Social Change is sponsoring the essay contest again this year for kids on the Virgin Islands. The essays should be about how surfing has inspired the writer to make a positive difference in his or her life, as well as in those around them.
A press release from Using Sport for Social Change declared 10 winners will be chosen.
Winners will receive transportation to and from the event, all customs fees, entry into the competition, as well as lunch and beverages for each winner and a chaperone. Valid passports are required and are the responsibility of the winners and their chaperones.
All essays should have a title, first and last name of the writer, contact phone number, age, location, and years of surfing experience at the top of the page.
Essays can be from one to three pages in length, double-spaced, and in at least 12-point font.
All entry forms must have a parent’s signature. For more information, or to download an entry form, visit www.usingsportforsocialchange.com.
