Fake Gun Gets Robber Cell Phone, Real Arrest

Police on St. Croix arrested 20-year-old Ernesto Guadalupe Friday after he allegedly pointed a wooden handgun at a man and stole his cellular phone.

According to police, Guadalupe approached an 18-year-old male in Estate Profit at around 10:45 a.m., and allegedly pointed what appeared to be a wooden handgun at him. The victim said Guadalupe told him, “give me something,” and when the victim said he had nothing to give, Guadalupe took the victim’s cell phone and walked away.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives arrested the suspect at about 15 minutes later. He was held on a $75,000 bail and remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
