The Department of Labor has scheduled double sessions on St. Thomas and St. Croix for the temporary and permanent government employees who were recently dismissed, according to a press release issued Thursday by the DOL.
The department’s rapid response teams have scheduled sessions to allow labor staff in both districts to provide one-on-one services for clients and alleviate a trip to the department. The teams are comprised of individuals from various government agencies, who are collaborating to provide important services during this transition. “I encourage those impacted to utilize the services offered by the department, including job seeking and other critical resources,” Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. said.
Attendees will be provided information about unemployment insurance options, retraining and development of new skills, emergency assistance, housing assistance, resume preparation, child support, healthcare, COBRA and veteran assistance.
The scheduled sessions are as follows:
- St. Croix, Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Curriculum Center
- 9 a.m. – noon – Morning Session
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
- St. Thomas, Thursday, Jan, 26 at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Center
- 9 a.m. – noon – Morning Session
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
“The department is diligently taking steps to ensure that employees have access to the services they need during this difficult time of transition,” said Bryan.
