Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating the killing of two 29-year-old men who were shot Wednesday night at Estate Grove Place on St. Croix. The two victims bring St. Croix’s 2012 total to four; St. Thomas and St. John are still murder free for the new year.
Police identified the murder victims as Sylvester Hodge and Michael Javios.
According to police, the two men were near Building 43 in the Mutual Homes housing community around 9 p.m., when they were shot several times by unknown assailants. Police said when they arrived on the scene one victim was being treated by Emergency Medical Technicians. The other victim was apparently deceased with no vital signs, according to EMTs.
An unnamed doctor at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center pronounced both victims dead.
Police said they recovered numerous AK47 and 9 millimeter shell casings from the area, and Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following the case.
