Effective Wednesday, Dec. 28, and until further notice, all previously issued burning permits are revoked, and there will be no issuance of new burning permits until further notice throughout the St. Thomas-St. John District, according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Virgin Islands Fire Service.
“We must be mindful of the circumstances of the limited water supply and rotation throughout the community—at this time, burning rubbish would be extremely fire hazardous,” Daryl A. George, assistant director of the V.I. Fire Service, said.
