Austin Franklin Smith Jr., also known as “Butchie,” died on Dec. 16 at his residence.
He is survived by his spouse, Stacey Claxton Smith; parents: Jewel and Winston Powell; sisters and brothers: Beverly Hendricks, Franklin Smith, Marilyn Francis, Merle Matthias, Alston Smith, Charles Smith, Morvel Vanterpool, Winifred Powell, Jewel Charles, Beverly Baron, Brenda Grupee, Wade Smith, Shakera Isom and Kafer Smith; daughters: Lataniah Smith and Latisha Smith, Kadijah Smith, Aisha Smtih and Shaquan “Jennifer” Smith; grandchild, Naya Harris; special friends: Reverend Carlyle Sampson, Keith “Poser” Abraham, Lionel Jackson, Sr., Liston Powell, Elroy “Scobie” Hendricks, Dale, Jeanette Hernandez and Linda Hercules; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cruz Bay Cemetery.
