Man Shot in Estate Glynn Grocery Store, Suspect Captured

St. Croix police arrested 38-year-old David Rios for shooting a man at Basic Grocery in Estate Glynn Wednesday afternoon. The victim was transported to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and is currently being treated.

No further information on the victim’s condition was available late Wednesday evening.

According to the preliminary police report, Rios was arguing with a male customer inside the store. During the argument, Rios fired his weapon, hitting the customer twice in his upper body. Rios reportedly walked out of the store and left the area in a four-door, brown Kia Rio.

A K-9 officer was passing by the store shortly after the incident and was stopped by a concerned citizen, who gave a description of the suspect and vehicle.

The officer spotted and stopped the vehicle. Rios exited, then threw down his weapon and surrendered to the officer without incident. Rios is now in police custody and will be remanded to Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending further court action.
