Beautiful, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, functional wood art will be on the table – unless it is a table – at the 6th Annual Woodworkers’ Expo, Dec. 2 to 4, in the Great Hall of the St. Croix campus, University of the Virgin Islands.
The expo will feature the works of the St. Croix Wood Artists, Inc. and the St. Thomas/St. John Woodworkers Society. Exquisite quality work from some of the finest woodworkers anywhere will be on display and for sale, according to a statement from UVI.
There will also be demonstrations by master woodworkers Avelino Samuel of St. John, Afreekan Southwell and William Johnson of St. Thomas, and Bien Brignoni of St. Croix. The expo will open at 1 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Woodworkers who are not members of these groups may also exhibit and sell locally made wood products by applying for space at the Cooperative Extension Service offices on St. Thomas and St. Croix. The cost for space is $50 per day. For more information, contact Carlos Robles at (340) 693-1080 or Clarice Clarke at (340) 692-4060.
The Woodworkers’ Expo is sponsored by UVI Cooperative Extension Service in partnership with the V.I. Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, the V.I. Department of Tourism, the V.I. Department of Agriculture, and the West Indian Company, Ltd…
