St. Thomas detectives have arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Omari Baltimore.
Baltimore was shot near Bunker Hill, on Garden Street on St. Thomas, around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 19. Police and emergency medical technicians arriving at the scene a few minutes later found no vital signs, and Baltimore was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
After an all-night manhunt following the shooting, police arrested 22-year-old Kamaal Francis and charged him with the murder.
The second man, Jamal Fahie, 20, was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a V.I. Police Department statement Friday.
A warrant for Fahie’s arrest was issued by the V.I. Superior Court Wednesday and based on that, members of VIPD’s Special Operations, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Units executed search warrants at what they believed was Fahie’s home. A 10 mm automatic handgun was also recovered by police during Fahie’s arrest.
Fahie has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault and unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence. Police said Francis was also arrested on the same charges.
