Twin brothers Iyoko and Iko Matthias, 19, of Estate Golden Rock, were arrested early Friday and charged in a shooting in Estate La Grande Princess.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau executed a search warrant in Christiansted at about 4 a.m. Friday in an operation code-named “Double Mint.” The officers arrested the brothers in connection with a shooting Nov. 14 in the area in which a bullet grazed a man’s face.
The Matthiases were charged with reckless endangerment first degree/principal; third degree assault/principal and unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.
On the day of the shooting, officers were dispatched to La Grande Princess to investigate a report of shots being fired near Five Corners. When police arrived they found a victim who said unknown individuals, who were later identified as the Matthias brothers, were in a black Cherokee vehicle and fired shots at him while he was walking in the yard of his home.
Police found that the suspects threatened the victim earlier in the day.
The brothers were held on $100,000 bail each and remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending a hearing.
