St. Croix police arrested four men Tuesday night and charged them with possession of unlicensed firearms and reckless endangerment after two handguns were recovered from the vehicle in which they were driving.
Police said a concerned citizen called to report that occupants inside a small brown vehicle just discharged several shots in the vicinity of Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School at about 5:30 p.m.
Police issued an all-points bulletin on the vehicle, and it was stopped by officers in the area of the D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace housing community.
Arrested were Eric McBean of Estate Smithfield and Alix Prentice of Pepper Tree Terrace, both 28; Nahjari Todman, 20, of Ludvig Harrigan Court housing community; and 19-year-old Charles Vallarde III of Areo Diaz Heights housing community.
A .38-caliber revolver and 9-mm handgun were recovered in the vehicle, along with seven grams of marijuana. All four suspects were charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and unauthorized possession of a firearm. They were placed on $25,000 bail each and remanded to Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending further court action.
