Hugh Parker Le Chester Watts, also known as "Baya," of Estate Smithfield died on Oct. 23 at his residence. He was 87 years old.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Keziah Quintyne; father, Joseph Watts; son, Richard Watts; sister, Loiuse Small; brothers: Aubrey Watts and Fitz Watts; daughters: Monica Best, Montrose Watts and Sandra Peña; sons: Hugh H. Watts and St. Clair Watts; grandchildren: Leroy Watts, Jeniffer Fergerson, Sonia Watts, Evan A. Best II, Sandra Buie, Sylvia Watts, Chanel Best, Anthony Best, Keisha Watts, Tatyann Josiah, Miguel Best, Reynaldo Best, Raydiance Watts-Clarke, Okelo Peña and Adia Peña; and great-grandchildren: Jamal Fergerson, Keondra Watts, Admiral Fergerson, Nkosi Watts, Eloyn Watts, Cheyanne Bule, Jarobi Watts, Jordyn Bule, Kitzman Josiah, Raylen Watts and Jencu Fergerson.
He is also survived by daughters-in-law: Rachel Watts and Margaret Watts; sons-in-law: Evans Best and Eric Peña; adopted sister, Gloria McGivney; brother, Astor Watts; nieces: Lydia Small, Suz Watts, Loiuse Headley and Joyce Hutchinson; nephews: Henderson Watts and Joseph Small; sisters-in-law: Gloria Small and Norma Hoyle; brothers-in-law: Goldie Small, Henderson Small and Randy Small; special friends: Lillian Foster, Austin Rice, Carolina Maynard and Maxentius John; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing from 3-5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, at James Memorial Funeral Home. There will be a second viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Methodist Church Ebenezer Congregation, Estate Richmond. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
