The Virgin Islands chapter of Habitat for Humanity International is currently seeking board members and volunteers for the 2011-2011 year. Individuals with experience in construction, finance, accounting, management, business administration, non-profit administration, marketing or public relations, and charitable fundraising are encouraged to apply.
“Habitat for Humanity of the Virgin Islands hopes to make the 2011-2012 year a great success. We are currently planning improvement projects for needy individuals and families in the community, and are looking for ways to raise funds to support these types of initiatives. With support from enthusiastic volunteers, we can really make a difference in the territory,” said Yvette Sutphin, Habitat-VI interim president.
The V.I. branch of the organization was incorporated in January of 2005. The Christian-based organization functions under the belief that every man, woman and child deserves a decent place to live. Through volunteer labor and monetary donations, the organization is able to build and rehabilitate homes throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands for deserving families.
Individuals interested in board positions should submit resumes via e-mail to hfhusvi@gmail.com.The next board meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 20. All individuals interested in serving on Habitat-VI’s board should contact Yvette Sutphin prior to this date in order to be considered for a role on the board. While Habitat-VI meetings are generally held in St. Thomas, interested applicants from other islands are encouraged to apply. Special arrangements may be facilitated for exceptional candidates.
