Results Given for STAR’s Annual Founders’ Day Run

On Sunday, just 24 hours after winning the second leg of the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association) 10-kilometer race in Tortola, Ruth Ann David led all runners to win STAR’s Founders’ Day 5 K. Her time of 19:21 broke the symbolic 20-minute barrier. The race featured both running and walking divisions; runners were divided into two age groupings for awards –40 and under and over 40. Women runners finished particularly strongly this year as Ashley Benson (21:20) and Nicole Stanton (21:35) beat out all but one male finisher overall. That top male was Vincent Nunes (21:08), who finished first for men overall as well as first in the over 40 group. Collette Monroe (26:52) was the sole woman finisher over 40 and placed eleventh overall.
For the younger men, Lorenzo Donastorg (22:21) led Eric Browne (22:56) and JaKumba van Putten (24:46). Following Nunes for top honors for men over 40 were Jason Budsan (23:18), Frank Jackson (29:29) and Amos McCoy (30:07).
Female walkers were led by Tamera Dannewitz (42:50) followed by Elisa Hodge (43:27) and Kirsten Brown (45:04). Roy McFarlane (42:53) was the faster male walker followed by Richard Kemp (46:44). Both Dannewitz and McFarlane are top prevailing walkers from last year’s race.
The complete listing of finishers follows below.
STAR’s next event will be the 13th Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2-Mile Run/Walk on Oct. 30. This benefit race for walkers and runners starts at 4:30 p.m. at Port of Sale Mall.
