A workshop entitled “But Can Your Business Idea Make Money?” is designed to help the pre-business person determine whether their idea represents a valid business opportunity. The high failure rate of new businesses indicates that relatively few new businesses result in successful ventures. Too many entrepreneurs strike out on a business venture absolutely convinced of its merits without having adequately evaluated its real potential.
It will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at St. Thomas Service Center at the Nisky Center. The instructor will be Lucy Holifield, VI SBDC associate state director. The cost of the workshop is $25.
At the workshop, participants will receive afeasibility checklist to help evaluate their business ideas. It’s designed to screen out ideas that are likely to fail – before participants invest extensive time, money and effort in them.
The workshop is designed to answer the question: Can this business make a profit? Individuals who are thinking of starting a business and want to know whether the idea represents a valid business opportunity should attend.
