'Salutation Nation' Celebrates National Yoga Month: POSTPONED

Jane diCola is bending over backwards to help residents celebrate National Yoga Month.

DiCola, owner of Blissful Retreats for Mind, Body and Soul, is hosting Salutation Nation St. Thomas, an inaugural event celebrating yoga, health and wellness. The celebration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Antilles School’s Jackson Complex in Frenchman’s Bay.

The event will feature free yoga classes, including Sole Training, Vinyasa flow, Restorative and Iyengar Yoga.

“It’s my goal to bring the power of health and wellness to our community,” said diCola. Those attending should wear comfortable clothing, bring a towel and plenty of water, she added.

She also said the inaugural event is part of a celebration taking place around the nation this month.

“My focus is to bring health and wellness to our community through the exploration of many healing modalities,” she said. “In doing so we are bringing in other health practitioners to support the power of healing and transformation through wellness.”

Other health experts on hand will include chiropractic services, life coaches, those who focus on "the law of attraction" and more. The event will also feature activities such as yoga and reflexology.

Salutation Nation is supported nationally by Lululemon, a Canadian clothing store chain specializing in health and wellness gear.

Tammy Reeve McKnight, owner of Wisdom Waves Wellness Center in Compass Point Marina, will offer alignment services and entrainment sessions, which she said helps bring the system into harmony so it can operate at full capacity.

“Entrainment sessions are wonderful as they help to bring the body into alignment so it can perform at its highest efficiency,” said Reeve McKnight.

She said the event will be relaxing as well as educational.

“This is a wonderful way to give residents a chance to take part in the endless possibilities of health and wellness,” said Reeve McKnight.

DiCola said that in the event of flash flood warnings, Salutation Nation St. Thomas will be rescheduled.

“It’s going to be a wonderful day and I hope the community will come out to enjoy a free day of yoga and health and wellness that brings the mind, body and soul together.”
