VIPD Nab Man Wanted in July Police Chase

St. Croix fugitive Victor Davis was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday and charged with third-degree assault in connection with an incident that occurred in July in Estate Williams Delight, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Davis, a 23-year-old resident of Estate Whim, was positively identified as the suspect who on July 16 fled the area after police stopped the vehicle in which he was riding. Police were investigating a report of an assault with a weapon.

On July 16 a male victim told police a vehicle pulled up beside his vehicle in Estate Williams Delight and that a passenger got out and pointed a long gun at him. The victim fled the area and contacted police, who spotted the vehicle with two occupants inside a short time later. Officers pursued the vehicle until it stopped in a grassy area.

A suspect, who was later identified as Davis, exited the vehicle, grabbed a weapon and fled the area.

Another suspect, 23-year-old Ramon Luis Cruz of Estate Williams Delight, also exited the vehicle and pointed a weapon at a police officer. He was arrested at the scene.

Bail for Davis was set at $35,000 and he was remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
