Raheem D. Louis, pegged by the V.I. Police Department’s Most Wanted List as "armed and dangerous," was arrested by police officers Thursday in Estate Richmond.
Louis is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and other charges in connection with an Aug. 17 robbery on the Christiansted boardwalk and an Aug. 19 carjacking.
Police said the 20-year-old Louis committed these crimes along with his twin brother, Kareem Louis, who was arrested at the scene of the carjacking and remains at the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility.
Police had been searching for Raheem Louis since he fled the scene following the carjacking. On Thursday, concerned citizens called officers at the Ancilmo Marshall Command in Christiansted and told them he had been seen in Estate Richmond. Police set up a perimeter and spotted the suspect, who ran right into other police staked out in the area. He was arrested without incident.
Louis was held on $75,000 bail and remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
St. Croix Police Chief Christopher Howell commended the C Command officers for capturing the suspect without incident.
“The officers acted immediately upon receiving the information. The capture was executed without jeopardizing the safety of the public, the suspect or the officers. Good job,” Howell said.
