Brief: VING Opens New Main Gate

The V.I. National Guard’s new main gate to the Estate Bethlehem Military Compound opened Saturday, now the primary entrance to the facility.

The new VING gate is across from the entrance to the Estate Bethlehem Sugar Factory and west of the previous gate. The new gate will have one entrance lane and a separate exit lane while construction continues. The middle lane will remain closed until the project is completed.

Traffic signs are posted adjacent to the area and on the old gate directing traffic to the new entrance. The former access gate to the compound closed Saturday and will remain closed.

Drivers are asked to observe the directions from the security guards upon entering the new gate and are urged to use caution as they enter and exit the facility from Major General Romney Drive. Drivers are cautioned to reduce speed when approaching up the hill from west to east.
