Woman Shot During Stoplight Assault on Queen Mary Highway

A woman was reportedly shot and injured early Monday morning when an unknown man tried to break into her car while she waited at a stoplight, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, the 20-year-old woman was driving at 1 a.m. Monday on the Queen Mary Highway when she stopped for a red light at William’s Delight. The victim told police that an assailant dressed in black, with a black cloth covering his face, tried to open the door and pointed a handgun at her.

As she accelerated her vehicle to drive away, the suspect fired a shot, grazing her in the upper body. She drove herself to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.
