Bureau of Corrections Demolition for Project Begins

The public and all neighboring businesses are advised that a demolition project is scheduled to begin at 109 Sub Base, which is the building adjacent to the Alva A. Swan Correctional Annex. Acting Director for the Bureau of Corrections (BOC) Dwayne Benjamin said that the demolition begins the initial phase of the BOC’s long term goal of expanding the facility.
The scheduled work, contracted to Apex Construction, will begin on Monday, Aug. 22, and will take approximately three months to complete. The scope of work includes site preparation to include fencing, utilities cap off, concrete material breakdown, steel separation, traffic control and debris removal, according to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Bureau of Corrections.
“We, at the BOC, apologize in advance for any inconveniences incurred as a result of the work to be performed and ask the indulgence of all affected as we work to provide a safer environment for security, custody and control,” said Benjamin.
