All employees of Caneel Bay Resort are informed that the V.I. Department of Labor, in collaboration with Caneel Bay management team, will be providing rapid response sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 25 at the resort. The Department of Labor will be assisting the employees of Caneel Bay on St. John as the hotel temporarily suspends business from Aug. 26-Oct. 13 to address general repairs and maintenance needs, according to a press release from DOL. A small core of employees will be retained to provide essential services.
“The Virgin Islands Rapid Response Team, headed by the Department of Labor, exists to ease the impact of layoffs and to assure that workers are offered a full range of benefits. The team is made up of representatives from DOL and other agencies. The employees will complete applications for unemployment benefits, and will receive an introduction of services available for dislocated workers. Information will also be made available on community services by local agencies that provide help and support to the workers and their families,” said Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr.
