VIEDA Launches EDC Online Application

The Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority has launched its online application for potential beneficiaries of the Economic Development Commission. This user-friendly application is now available on the VIEDA’s Web site, www.usvieda.org. It allows users who
apply online to check the status of their applications and supporting documents, save partially completed applications, and send messages to the authority online and receive responses to inquiries about their applications, according to a press release issued Thursday by VIEDA.
Potential applicants also have the option to download an EDC Application form. With this added feature to the Web site, applications can be processed more expeditiously as the VIEDA continues to embrace eco-friendly methods of doing business with its clients. This initiative is part of the continued efforts of the deJongh/Francis Administration to streamline government
services for greater efficiency and productivity.
“The EDC online application provides a great opportunity for potential investors to apply for tax benefits and have their application processed more quickly while the authority does its part in preserving the environment,” said Dr. Paul Flemming, director of applications for the EDC program.
“In this age of technology, we encourage businesses to visit our Web site and become acquainted with the new tools and resources that are available to enhance the success of their business goals,” said Percival E. Clouden, CEO of the VIEDA.
Other features include an Application Help section, an Attachment Management System and application alerts on updates regarding the VIEDA’s programs. The site also has a Secure Sockets Layer or SSL security. Applicants may also submit payments online. Training sessions for the online applications were also conducted with the EDC Applications Division on St. Croix in May 2011 by BizVI Group, LLC, the developer of the online application and the authority’s Web site. This will enable designated employees to become more knowledgeable about the
online application process and the maintenance of information submitted by EDC applicants.
