VIPD Finds Drugs, Cash in Murder Victim's Car

A large amount of drugs and cash were recovered from the vehicle of Deron Francis, who died in a shooting early Monday morning, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Croix Tuesday released additional information on the shooting death of the 40-year-old Francis, who lived in the JFK housing community (See related link at story’s end).

According to police, Francis’ body was found by police lying on the road of the Randolph Lockhart Elementary school in Estate Orange Grove. The body had multiple gunshot wounds. Francis was dressed in blue short pants, a white shirt and sandals.

The car containing contraband was parked within walking distance of where Francis’ body was found, police added, noting that shell casings were also found in the area. The case is being followed up by the Major Crime Investigation Unit.

Howell said there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of any murder suspect.
