Man Survives Shooting Outside Christiansted Nightclub

A 22-year-old man, shot early Wednesday morning outside a Christiansted nightclub, has survived, according to a V.I. Police Department news release.

The victim—shot in his abdomen, left buttocks and left hand—was also found to be in possession of a fully loaded 9-mm magazine and a small amount of marijuana.

The shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday outside Club Expose on Company Street in Christiansted, police investigators said. The glass door at the entrance to the club and several vehicles had bullet holes, and forensic technicians collected more than a dozen shell casings from the scene.

The victim, as yet unidentified, was driven by private car to Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he was taken to emergency surgery. Further details on his condition were not available at press time.

The case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information can call detectives at 712-6075, 712-6037 or 712-6077, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
